FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 29, 2010
Singer-Songwriter Seth Glier teams with Musicians On Call for “The Rock for Rooms Residency” @ The Rockwood Music Hall (NYC), February through April
Singer-songwriter Seth Glier and nonprofit organization Musicians On Call join forces for “The Rock for Rooms Residency” at NYC’s The Rockwood Music Hall February 12th, March 12th and April 9th. In the mornings and afternoons before his Rockwood Shows, Seth will join the Musicians On Call program visiting and performing for patients in healthcare facilities.
Glier’s successful “The 12 Days of Touring” partnership with the Coats for Kids Foundation, where he collected over 250 coats for local school systems, gave him to chance to perform for patients at the Philadelphia Veterans Administration Center For Community Living on behalf of XPN Musicians On Call earlier this year. Seth’s visit was very successful and so spiritually rewarding that he wanted to opportunity to work with Musicians On Call again. The nonprofit organization brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities and uses music to promote and complement the healing process for patients, families and caregivers in New York, Philadelphia, Nashville, and Miami.
When NYC's Rockwood Music Hall offered Seth a residency at their venue he contacted Musicians On Call to join their New York program. "I believe music has the power to heal through its joy and reflection, I want to bring music to places that need it the most," said Glier. Michael Hill of Musicians On Call says they are “looking forward to Seth visiting New York City hospitals on behalf of Musicians On Call during his residency.”
About Seth Glier:
Singer-songwriter Glier was raised on the music of Joni Mitchell, Martin Sexton, and Jeff Buckley, but he considers his brother to be his greatest influence. "My brother is autistic and non-verbal. I learned to communicate with words better once I realized how to communicate to someone without them."
Boston-based Glier is already a seasoned troubadour, having shared stages with John Mayer, Martin Sexton, Erin McKeown and James Taylor. Other notable supporters of Glier's music include acclaimed singer-songwriters Ellis Paul and Livingston Taylor. Glier’s accomplishments surpass his age -- he has performed hundreds of shows, including a set for more than 25,000 people on the National Mall in Washington D.C. Livingston Taylor says "Listening to Seth’s music gives me hope for what’s to come. The next generation is alive and well."
As a green (environmentally conscious) artist, Glier continues to travel in his hybrid vehicle, promotes fan carpooling, & sells organic merchandise in support of his debut album "The Trouble With People," released November 3rd on MPress Records.
